Face Verification Failures Are Frustrating but Fixable
During Binance KYC, the face verification step trips up many users. It is usually not your fault - it is the environment, device, or technique. Register on the Binance Official Website or use the Binance Official App. Apple users see the iOS Installation Guide.
Lighting Is the #1 Cause
Too dark: camera cannot capture features. Backlit (window behind you): your face appears as a silhouette. Fix: Face the light source in a well-lit indoor space. Use soft natural or overhead light. Avoid direct sunlight and flash.
Camera and Device Issues
Dirty lens, low-resolution front camera, or outdated phone model. Fix: Clean the lens, update the app, try a newer device, and use the mobile app (better than webcam).
Incorrect Positioning
Face too close, too far, off-center, or moving too fast during prompts. Fix: Hold phone at arm length at face level, center your face in the frame, follow prompts slowly, and keep steady.
Mismatch with ID Photo
Significant appearance changes since your ID photo (facial hair, glasses, weight, hairstyle). Fix: Match your ID photo appearance as closely as possible during verification. Remove glasses if not in ID photo.
Unstable Network
Face verification streams video data to servers in real time. Fix: Use stable Wi-Fi or strong mobile signal. Disable VPN. Close other bandwidth-heavy apps.
Locked After Multiple Failures
After too many failed attempts, verification locks for 24-48 hours. Use this time to fix all issues above. If still failing after the cooldown, contact Binance support for manual review - submit clear selfie and handheld ID photos. Manual review takes a few business days but has a higher success rate.
