Wrong Address Means Lost Funds - Permanently
Unlike bank transfers that can be reversed, crypto sent to the wrong address is gone forever. Blockchain transactions are irreversible. Verifying the address before withdrawing is not optional - it is essential. Register on the Binance Official Website or use the Binance Official App. Apple users see the iOS Installation Guide.
Common Address Errors
Clipboard hijacking: Malware replaces copied addresses with the attacker address. Since addresses look like random strings, most people do not notice. Wrong network: Sending via the wrong network (e.g., TRC20 address but sending via ERC20) can result in lost funds. Typos: Manually typing a 34+ character address easily produces errors.
How to Verify
Compare first and last 4 characters of the pasted address against the original. Send a small test amount first for new addresses - e.g., 10 USDT before sending 50,000 USDT. Confirm matching networks on both sending and receiving sides. Check the address on a blockchain explorer (Etherscan, BscScan, Tronscan) to confirm it is a valid, active address.
Use the Withdrawal Whitelist
Enable the whitelist in Security Settings. Once enabled, you can only withdraw to pre-approved addresses. New addresses have a 24-hour cooling period. This protects against attackers adding their own addresses even if your account is compromised.
Prevent Clipboard Hijacking
Run regular virus scans. Avoid unknown software and browser extensions. Use the Binance app QR scanner instead of copy-paste when possible. Always re-verify the address on the final confirmation screen.
After Submitting a Withdrawal
Binance sends a confirmation email and requires security verification. Track progress via withdrawal history and TxID on blockchain explorers. Different networks have different confirmation times. If delayed, check the explorer before contacting support.
