How to Sync Your Binance Data After Switching Phones
The most annoying part of getting a new phone is migrating app data, especially for apps that handle money. As a crypto exchange, Binance adds the authenticator challenge on top of the usual migration process. But don't worry — Binance's core data (assets, trade history, settings) is entirely cloud-based. All you need to do is log in on the new phone and restore security verification. If you don't have a Binance account yet, sign up for Binance first, then download the Binance App on your new phone.
Pre-Switch Checklist
Spend 5 minutes preparing before the handoff to avoid 90% of potential issues:
Confirm your account credentials
- Login email address (make sure you can access it)
- Linked phone number (confirm it's still active)
- Login password (if unsure, change it on the old phone and memorize the new one)
Handle Google Authenticator
- If using Google Authenticator: Open the App → Menu → Export Accounts → Generate migration QR code
- If using Authy: Simply log in to your Authy account on the new phone — it syncs automatically
- If using a built-in phone authenticator: Check whether it supports cloud sync
Screenshot your current settings
- Security settings page
- Notification preferences
- Watchlist coins
These screenshots help you quickly restore the same setup on your new phone.
Installation and Login on the New Phone
Step 1: Install the Binance App
Android users can directly download the Binance App APK. iPhone users need an overseas Apple ID for the App Store or install via TestFlight.
Step 2: Log in
Open the Binance App and enter your email/phone and password. Security verification will be required:
- Email verification code: Check your inbox for a 6-digit code
- SMS verification code: Sent to your linked phone number
- Google Authenticator code: Open the authenticator app for the 6-digit rotating code
All three verifications must pass before login.
Step 3: New device confirmation
Since it's a new device, Binance sends a "New Device Login Confirmation" email. Open it and click "Confirm Login." In some cases, a 24-hour observation period restricts withdrawals temporarily.
What Syncs Automatically After Login
Once logged in, you'll find most data is already there:
Automatically restored:
- All asset balances (spot, futures, funding, etc.)
- Historical trade records and orders
- KYC verification status
- VIP level and fee rates
- Binance Pay settings
- API keys (names only — key content is hidden)
Needs manual setup:
- Fingerprint/Face ID login (re-enroll biometrics on the new phone)
- Price alerts and push notification preferences
- App language (may need to switch back to your preferred language)
- Home screen widgets
- Dark/light mode preference
- Watchlist (may need to re-add coins)
Securing the Old Phone
Once everything works on the new phone, handle the old device:
Remove device authorization
In the Binance App on your new phone: Settings → Security → Device Management → find the old phone → Delete. This forces a logout on the old device even if it's still holding a session.
Clear App data on the old phone
If the old phone will be sold or given away:
- Log out of the Binance App
- Clear App data and cache
- Uninstall the Binance App
- Factory reset the phone
Important: Don't just uninstall — clear data first. Some phones may retain recoverable data after uninstallation.
Special Situations
Old phone is broken or lost
If the old phone is gone:
- Log in to Binance web version on a computer
- Remove the old device in security settings
- If Google Authenticator verification fails, apply for an authenticator reset
- After reset approval, re-bind on the new phone
Changing phone number simultaneously
If you're also switching phone numbers:
- Use the old number to complete verification on the new phone first
- After logging in, go to Security Settings to change the linked number
- Changing requires verification from both old and new numbers
If the old number is no longer usable, contact support for assistance — this may require submitting ID documents.
Switching between Android and iOS
Cross-platform switching doesn't affect Binance at all. Account data is in the cloud, independent of the operating system. The only difference is the installation method — APK for Android, App Store or TestFlight for iOS.
Security Advice
Phone switching is a security-sensitive period:
- Complete the migration at home — avoid public places
- Avoid large transactions or withdrawals for 24 hours before and after
- Ensure the new phone isn't rooted or jailbroken
- Set up fingerprint/Face ID immediately after installing the Binance App
- Verify your anti-phishing code is working — check that Binance emails contain your code
FAQ
Q: Are my trade records preserved after switching phones?
All of them. Trade records are stored on Binance servers and have nothing to do with your device. They're visible immediately after login.
Q: Will the old phone auto-logout when I log in on the new one?
No. Binance allows simultaneous multi-device logins. You need to manually remove the old device in Device Management or log out on the old phone directly.
Q: Do I need to redo KYC after switching phones?
No. KYC is account-level, not device-level. Once verified, it's permanent regardless of how many phones you switch.
Q: Why is there a 24-hour withdrawal restriction on the new phone?
This is Binance's security policy. New devices have withdrawal restrictions for 24 hours to prevent stolen accounts from being drained quickly. It resolves automatically.
Q: Can I use Binance on two phones at the same time?
Yes. Binance supports multiple simultaneous sessions. For example, you can be logged in on both a phone and tablet. For security, keep sessions active only on devices you regularly use. Manage all logged-in devices through the Security Center after signing up for Binance.
